Growing up in the country, I have always listened to country music. I have grown to love the music and if one were to go through my ipod, 95% of it would be country. Many people do not enjoy listening to my kind of music, for some reason. As a child riding in the car with my parents, I have always felt more comfortable listening to the music that would be playing on the country stations. I don't know why I would feel comfortable, maybe it was because the songs were less "dirty". Many people tell me that country songs are too sad, but the truth is that they are sad, but they are true. But there are also happy songs too.My favorite song, at this moment, is called "Cowgirls Don't Cry" by Brooks and Dunn. It is about a girl that received a pony from her father at a young age and he continues to tell her that cowgirls don't cry. As the song goes on he repeats the saying to her when her marriage has troubles. The ending is sad, I won't tell you what happens but it has a good message to it. Listen to it!
The artist that I enjoy listening to are Carrie Underwood, Taylor Swift, Kellie Pickler (I saw her in concert), Miranda Lambert, Pat Green, Sarah Evans. My favorite being Kellie and Carrie. I like Kellie a lot because she has short hair, like me, and I like her life story. Carrie Underwood is just as good as they get, she is beautiful and has an awesome voice.
When I came to college, I learned a lot of "Hip-Hop" music, if that's what you call it? In the locker room, we never really play country music to get us pumped up for the games, which I am fine with. I do love country music, but would agree that it is not really pumping up music.
Right now, I have been listening to a lot of music, I am "trying" to make a slide show for my sister, who is planning on getting married in August. I am trying to find the best songs for this slide show! Right now I have a few, but none that really yell out "perfect". Although one of the songs I like is called "It won't be like this for long" by Darius Rucker. Its a good song about a girl growing up. If anyone has any ideas, feel free to help me out!
I used to listen to country music all the time when I was young. Mostly because thats what my parents listened to. But when i got in junior high and high school i kind of grew away from it and started to listen to more rock and rap. In high school I always said I hated country, but here lately I don't mind it anymore. Ive started to listen to it more now and its nice sometimes. Its good to listen to songs that are more realistic and that have more meaning to them.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite country singer is Taylor Swift. Me and my friend Alex started listening to her recently because she is a really good singer. My favorite song right now is Love Story by Taylor Swift. And yea, I am a guy so what, it's a good song! And I don't know a whole lot about weddings and stuff, but Love Story might be a good song for you. But like I said I don't know a whole lot about that stuff, but good luck!
I used to listen to some country music when I would spend time with my dad, but he always listened to the old stuff which wasn't always my favorite. I really started listening to it more in high school. My sister's volleyball team got her hooked on it, so she started listening to it. Since she always picked the music, that's what I began to like. I have to say that my favorites are Kellie Pickler and Carrie Underwood too. I've liked them since I first saw them on American Idol. I also like Rascal Flatts.

I have to admit I got excited when I saw Carrie Underwood on your blog. I love Carrie's voice too! I am not that big of a country fan, but I like her voice and most of the songs she does.
ReplyDeleteI would have to agree with you that country is more true then hip-hop. It seems to have more of a message then constantly talking about the anatomy of women or the sexual practices of the singers. It's nice to just listen to a story-song from a country singer. Now I like hip-hop, but some of the songs get a little ruanchy and distasteful.
Good job on keeping true to your favorit music while expanding your genre selection.
